Rules:
Comments will be used as questions and answers.
There will be areas where beginners can learn and where advanced students can learn.
Everybody is welcome. First off, I am Evan Plant. The type of flute you get is important.
Here are a couple of flutes, open hole flute, closed hole flute, etc. Open hole flutes will last you a very long time. Open hole flutes are for advanced flute players.
Advanced flutes:
Open hole flutes. Playing an open hole flute means that you must put your finger over the hole on the pads while playing. This can be difficult for a beginner. If you leave some remaining space in an area of your open holed pad, the sound that comes out will be horrible. Advanced players will understand how to play an open-holed flute. If an advanced player can't understand how to play an open holed flute, use plugs. Plugs usually come with an open holed flutes.
Student Flutes:
If you are a beginner and you want to start with the basics, get a student flute. It will have closed holes. Closed hole flutes are much easier to play because you don't have to put your fingers in an exact location. Beginners should refer to the FAQ and how to play your flute area. Advanced flutists can use student flutes instead of open hole flutes as well. Beginners can use an open hole flute if they use plugs.
